The Serralves Foundation is a cultural institution with a contemporary vision of Art and Landscape, being considered one of the cultural institutions of reference in Portugal and the most relevant in the north of the country. The Foundation’s landscape and architectural heritage consists of the Museum of Contemporary Art and the new Álvaro Siza Wing, the Serralves Villa (a unique example of Art Deco architecture), the Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira (Cinema House) and the 18-hectare Serralves Park which is complemented by the pioneering Treetop Walk: an elevated walkway close to the treetops.

O Museu do Carro Eléctrico localiza-se no edifício da antiga Central Termoelétrica de Massarelos (1915) e é reconhecido por preservar a memória e história dos carros elétricos do Porto, um dos ex-libris da cidade. A sua exposição permanente inclui mais de duas dezenas de veículos, incluindo elétricos, atrelados, carros de tração animal, carros de apoio e outros artefactos e, com a abertura ao público da antiga Sala das Máquinas da Central Termoelétrica, conta também como produziu e distribuiu, durante décadas, a eletricidade.
The Porto Tramcar Museum (Museu do Carro Eléctrico) is located in the building of the old Massarelos Thermoelectric Power Plant (1915) and is recognized for preserving the memory and history of Portos historical tramacars, one of the ex-libris of the city. Its permanent exhibition includes more than two dozen vehicles, including trams, trailers, animal-drawn cars, support cars and other artefacts and, with the opening to the public of the former Machinery Room of the Thermoelectric Power Plant, it also tells how it produced and distributed , for decades, electricity.

The act of evocation and recovery of the Paço da Rolaçom, the Town Hall of Porto between the 15th and 18th centuries, signed by Fernando Távora and José Bernardo Távora, is a new document and monument, based on the idea of interpreting and building in contemporary times. As a recovery and fixation of a still-present identity, capable of fueling discussions and conquering cultural and social convictions about the duration of architecture, it challenges the people of Porto to desire and project the future (of the city center).

Da história do edifício subsistem algumas paredes pétreas, e vários testemunhos escritos e iconográficos que, até hoje, nunca foram suficientes para revelar a imagem global do magnífico edifício. Nesta visita será apresentada a reconstituição arquitetónica possível do edifício e seus espaços interiores.
The Town Hall Tower, built at the turn of the 14th-15th centuries, is an affirmation of the growing power of the people of Porto over the city's destiny. A few stone walls remain from the building's history, as well as several written and iconographic testimonies which, until today, have never been enough to reveal the overall image of the magnificent building. This visit will present a possible architectural reconstruction of the building and its interior spaces.

Construída em 1325, a Casa do Infante é assim designada por aí ter presumidamente nascido Henrique, o Navegador. O monumento nacional foi a antiga Alfândega da cidade e Casa da Moeda. Durante a visita observam-se ainda vestígios de ocupação romana, dos séculos IV e V com pavimentos de mosaico.
Built in 1325, Casa do Infante (House of Prince) is known as the brithplace of Prince Henry, the Havigator. This national monument was the Old Customs House of the city and a Mint House. Mas poderão mesmo os museus fazer isto? Como? E como se conjuga este desejo com as missões de conservação patrimonial? As perguntas são muitas e queremos promover encontros, sentarmo-nos e juntos darmos muito mais do que dois dedos de conversa.
There is a lot of talk about the crisis of educational models in contemporary society and how cultural institutions, particularly museums, can present themselves as spaces that not only rethink the models of the learning relationship but also offer alternative, complementary experiences that enhance the exercise of full and broad citizenship. But can museums really do this? And how can this desire be combined with heritage conservation missions? The questions are many and we want to promote encounters, sit down and together give much more than two fingers of conversation.

Início: Palacete dos Viscondes de Balsemão, Praça de Carlos Alberto |Fim: Museu Romântico
Neste percurso iremos conhecer os lugares percorridos por Carlos Alberto, rei da Sardenha, no Porto. Chegou à cidade no dia 19 de Abril de 1849, sendo recebido pelas autoridades civis, militares, religiosas e por inúmeras individualidades da sociedade portuense. Através da Rua de Cedofeita, dirigiu-se para o então Largo dos Ferradores (atual Praça de Carlos Alberto), tendo ficado alojado na Hospedaria de António Bernardo Pexe (ou Peixe), instalada no Palacete dos Viscondes de Balsemão. Ali subiremos ao que terá sido o seu quarto. Entre outros locais, iremos à casa da Quinta da Macieirinha, onde viveu até ao seu falecimento no dia 28 de julho de 1849.
Com Lopes Cordeiro. A atividade não está coberta por seguro de acidentes pessoais.
On this tour, we will see the places visited by Charles Albert, King of Sardinia, in Porto. He arrived in the city on April 19, 1849, and was welcomed by the civil, military and religious authorities, as well as by numerous figures from Porto society. Through Rua de Cedofeita, he headed for the then Largo dos Ferradores (now Praça de Carlos Alberto), where he stayed at the Hospedaria de António Bernardo Pexe (or Peixe), housed in the Palacete dos Viscondes de Balsemão. There we'll go up to what would have been his bedroom. Among other places, we'll go to the house at Quinta da Macieirinha, where he lived until his death on July 28, 1849.

The history of the city of Porto and its inhabitants is also populated by horticulturists, gardeners and nature lovers who worked both in public spaces and on private pleasure estates in the 19th century. As part of the 50th Anniversary of the 25th of April, Customs pays tribute to 21 Portuguese Women who achieved unimaginable personal and social goals. These, and many others who fought for Freedom and who achieved the right to citizenship and participation in the collective life of the country.

Antigamente, o tempo media-se através dos ciclos do sol, da lua e das estrelas. Depois surgiu o relógio de sol e o relógio mecânico. Será que à noite no Museu encontraremos estas máquinas de medir o tempo? Partindo das diferentes coleções, iremos construir uma nova versão para contar o tempo.
In the past, time was measured through the cycles of the sun, moon, and stars. Then came the sundial and the mechanical clock. Will we find these time measuring machines at night in the Museum? Starting from the different collections, we will build a new version to tell time.
